How can I fit yoga into my busy schedule?

Many people find the best way to begin is to commit to a weekly yoga class. Finding a convenient time and location as well as a class you enjoy is key to helping you get there.

Can I do yoga if I have health problems or physical injuries?

Yes, yoga can be adapted for each individual. Students fill out a health form so the practice can be modified to suit each person’s needs. The practice of yoga teaches you to listen your body and to do what you can.

Can people of all ages do yoga?

I’ve had the pleasure of teaching people of all ages. Both children and adults enjoy and benefit from the relaxation aspect of yoga as well as the active part of the practice.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to breathe and move. It is also good to layer so you can maintain a comfortable temperature. Ideally, yoga is practiced in bare feet on a non-slip surface.

What equipment will I need?

A yoga mat gives you a clean, non-slip surface for your yoga practice. Blankets, blocks, bolsters and straps are the toys of yoga practice. Often these are supplied when you take a class or workshop.

Why are yoga classes often fragrance-free zones?

Yoga encourages deep breathing so the use of scents is problematic for some students. Be mindful not to use scented products when doing yoga with others.

Is talking during yoga class acceptable?

Refrain from visiting or chatting during class. A quiet focus enhances yoga practice. Questions about how to adapt a pose are acceptable but any lengthy discussions should take place before or after class.

What kind of yoga do you teach?

When someone asks what style of yoga I teach, I reply, "Mutt Yoga”. I love to blend many yoga styles together to create my own practice.

Who have been your yoga teachers?

My yoga teachers have included Kelly Green, Rainie Evans, Lori Lee, Marje Foley-Jacob, Linda McKenzie, Gay Meagley, Silver Firth, K-Lea Gifford, Father Joe Pereira, Emma Korkola, and Aileen Hayden. I’ve also learned much from my wonderful yoga students.

What are your favorite yoga videos and books?

My favorite video teachers are Shiva Rea and Rodney Yee. My favorite yoga books are Rachel Schaeffer's "Yoga for Your Spiritual Muscles", Vanda Scaravelli's "Awakening the Spine", Todd Walton's "Open Body... Creating Your Own Yoga" and Sandra Sabatini's "breath... the essence of yoga".

What is Ball Yoga?

When I started teaching I noticed a lot of people found it difficult to sit on the floor so we would sit on big exercise balls. We would bounce and laugh, creating a new kind of yoga.

What is Partner Yoga?

Pairing up with a partner takes stretches to the next level. making contact with another person and exploring what you can do together is creative. and it is fun!

Why the name Enjoyoga?

I love to play with yoga. I think of yoga as my time out! I wish to share the joy of yoga with others so I call it Enjoyoga.
